Website statistics
I use GoatCounter to understand how often the book is read, which chapters are useful to readers, and which websites send visitors here. Statistics include pageviews, referring website domains, approximate countries, browsers, operating systems, languages, and screen sizes.
GoatCounter does not set visitor cookies or use browser storage. This site’s analytics omits query parameters and fragments from page addresses and records only the domain of a referring website. Analytics is skipped when your browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
GoatCounter temporarily processes IP addresses and browser information to estimate location and distinguish repeated visits. According to its privacy policy, information used to distinguish visits is held in memory for up to eight hours; raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics database. The hosted service stores data in Germany and Finland.
Website hosting
The book is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub records visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, independently of the analytics described above. See GitHub’s information about Pages and its privacy statement.
